THE EQUIPMENT
ADVANTAGE
SCUBA diving is an
equipment-intensive sport. Whether artifact collecting
in Lake Tahoe, hunting for halibut in Carlsbad, exploring
a wreck in the Channel Islands, or snapping photos of
Queen Angelfish on the reefs of Cozumel, being safe and
comfortable underwater is very important and will enhance
your diving experience. To attain this level of comfort,
we recommend that you start your training with your own
equipment. From basic snorkeling gear to a Total Diving
System, there are many benefits to owning your own gear.
Purchasing equipment
makes diving more convenient, affordable, and safe.
The convenience of
owning your own equipment allows you to go diving anywhere,
anytime. By foregoing the potential hassles and expense
of renting equipment, particularly during vacations, time
is saved and you are assured of using well-maintained
and correctly sized equipment you are familiar with and
confident in using.
In addition to being
convenient, diving must also be affordable. Since diving
is a life-long activity, the cost of renting diving equipment
repeatedly will in a short time exceed the cost of an
initial purchase.
A further consideration
is the familiarity of your own equipment. The type of
diving you do may not match someone else's. A system used
for warm water dives in the Caribbean can be much different
than a system for someone who only dives in California.
Frequent use of your equipment complimented by our individualized
instruction, will bring about peace of mind and make your
dives much more relaxed and rewarding. When renting equipment
on a vacation, you are giving up your whole first day
of diving because you have to get used to gear that you
havent used before. By bringing your own equipment,
all you have to do is enjoy your dives.
Underwater Schools
of America offers a variety of affordable equipment to
choose from. To get comfortable and familiarize yourself
with your system during training, feel free to ask your
instructor to help guide you in your selection of diving
equipment. You'll always be glad you did!
Proper knowledge,
skills and equipment are the differences between the safe
and unsafe diver!" Add experience to that and a whole
new world awaits!
